Rome, a city steeped in captivating history and adorned with architectural wonders, welcomed us with open arms (but not without a fine on the train first). Eager to immerse ourselves in its rich tapestry of culture, we embarked on a hasty exploration of its renowned landmarks during our brief four-day stopover.

Our inaugural stop, the Coliseum, left an indelible impression on our minds. Towering majestically before us, its colossal stature defied our preconceived notions. Though deterred by the lengthy queues snaking around its entrance, we revelled in the opportunity to traverse its perimeter, conjuring vivid images of its bygone glory days.

Venturing forth, we surrendered ourselves to the labyrinthine streets, guided solely by the allure of discovery. En route, we savoured the local delights, indulging in Aperol Spritzes, Limoncello and Panini sandwiches, while basking in the vibrant ambiance of the city. Amidst

the bustling crowds, the iconic Trevi Fountain beckoned, eliciting both marvel and mirth as we partook in the age-old tradition of tossing a coin into its cerulean depths. Thereafter we headed to the Spanish Steps before heading homeward to rest our weary legs. Even though we wanted to stay and watch the sunset from the steps, we were a little to early and very tired from our increadible voyage through the city.

Our gastronomic journey continued unabated, punctuated by delectable servings of gelato, each spoonful a symphony of flavours. Energized by our culinary escapades, we traversed the cobblestone streets, stumbling upon hidden gems such as quaint bistros, picturesque piazzas and forgotten ruins that lined our journey home.

The following day, guided by our innate sense of wanderlust, we found ourselves at the doorstep of the imposing Castle Sant'Angelo, its formidable presence mirrored in the waters of the Tiber River.

As we meandered through the tree-lined avenues, serenaded by the melodies of street musicians, we marvelled at the juxtaposition of ancient grandeur and vibrant street life.

Our epicurean journey reached its peak with a heavenly portion of Tiramisu, showcasing Italy's mastery of flavours. Energized by our dining experiences, we set off on a leisurely walk, unexpectedly encountering architectural wonders like the Pantheon and Piazza Navona, each structure a tribute to the creativity and craftsmanship of previous generations.

As we bid adieu to the Eternal City, our hearts brimmed with gratitude for the enriching experiences bestowed upon us. Rome, with its timeless allure and boundless charm, had left an indelible mark on our souls, igniting a fervent desire to return and unravel its myriad of mysteries once more.

Tips: 1. Make sure you get the right train tickets e.g childrens tickets stop @ the age of 11. They fined us equivalent to $300 AUD for not getting the right ones. Taking advantage of tourist. Beware

2. Buy tickets online to avoid missing out, the lines are crazy even when it wasn't peak season.

3. Make sure you carry some cash and watch those bags especially on the subway.

4. And have some confortable shoes for walking around and getting lost in this beautful city.
